Chapter 2 The mission of rebirth is to make money
The fallen object was a steel plate used for construction.
Jiang Qin pondered it for a moment and came up with a plausible answer.
So, he first encountered a crucial question: Why was I reborn?
The answer was actually quite simple: it was probably because I felt a sense of regret, which moved heaven and earth and granted me a chance.
So, what was Jiang Qin's regret?
Nothing else, just not being able to make money.
So, he was reborn to make money. Love was out of the question!
Being a spare tire was especially exhausting. He'd be better off helping his parents wash dishes and chopsticks.
It's understandable that young people tend to overthink things and admire beautiful things, but for a man in his 40s, it was ridiculous for his mind to be reborn with only breasts and thighs in mind.
After being reborn, who the hell would fall in love?
Jiang Qin folded the paper he had written and put it in his pocket. He looked up and saw Chu Siqi frozen in place, a look of disbelief in her eyes. "That's the love letter you wrote me. How...how can you even ask for it back?"
"You don't want it? Then don't waste it. I'll change my name and give it to someone else."
Chu Siqi choked, then quickly changed her tone: "Jiang Qin, it's not like you don't have a chance. I just don't want a relationship right now. But that might change once I get to college. I'll consider you first then!"
Jiang Qin couldn't help but glance at her, and goosebumps instantly spread across his body.
If this were my teenage self, I might have really let this faint hope continue down this path.
But looking back now, my youthful vision was damned poor.
And you're still considering me first? Is that even a human being?
"Everything I said is true, but there's one thing: you can't write love letters to anyone else, and you can't like anyone else. Otherwise, we'll never have a chance again!"
"But I don't think I really like you. Let's part ways amicably, sweetheart."
Chu Siqi's eyes widened slightly, her pride deeply stung. How can we just part ways amicably? You're talking like you've been dumped. I'm so kind, I encouraged you not to give up, but what's your attitude?
"Jiang Qin, do you know that love needs to be tempered? If you can't even withstand the slightest setback, how can I even consider being with you? I don't even see your resolve, okay?"
"Then find someone else to temper your feelings. I have more important things to do right now." Jiang Qin was completely focused on making money and really didn't want to get involved in any more useless arguments.
Chu Siqi was furious after hearing this: "Jiang Qin, you bastard! I swear I'll never talk to you again!"
"Wait a minute!"
Just as Chu Siqi was about to run away, Jiang Qin suddenly stopped her, his face showing unusual nervousness.
Seeing his expression, Chu Siqi felt a little happy, and her youthful smugness returned for a moment.
He was indeed afraid that she would ignore him. His talk of parting amicably was just pretense. "What's wrong? Is there anything else? But I have to tell you in advance, you won't get another chance!"
Jiang Qin glanced at his pencil case as if he hadn't heard. "Are we taking the college entrance exam? Have you finished? Which subject?"
Chu Siqi was slightly taken aback. "I'm done. I just finished the last one this morning!"
"Great! If I take it again, I won't even get into Lanxiang Technical School."
Chu Siqi looked at his bright smile and suddenly felt dazed. "You...you called me just to tell me that?"
Jiang Qin took a deep breath. "One more thing. Does the exam mean we can have the holiday?"
"I don't know. Ask whoever you want!"
Chu Siqi was furious and trotted back to the teaching building.
Pretending to not care when rejected—what kind of person is that? Does he think that will soften his heart? I don't know where he learned this, but he's playing hard to get. Then I'll ignore you for a week and see who rushes to admit their mistake! Jiang Qin packed up his things and headed back to the teaching building, but before he'd taken a few steps, he was surrounded by a group of onlookers.
"I told you you'd definitely fail. You can just like Chu Siqi if you want to? You're overestimating yourself!"
The person who spoke was Qin Ziang, a well-known rich kid from Class 3, Grade 2. His father was the largest local real estate developer.
This guy once famously shouted "I'll pay for the whole meal" in the school cafeteria. He was incredibly arrogant.
"Old Jiang, there's no need to feel bad. Chu Siqi has rejected at least eighty of them. I'll buy you a soda later."
The next person to speak was a chubby, bespectacled guy named Guo Zihang, Jiang Qin's best friend from high school.
Jiang Qin ignored Qin Ziang's sarcasm and instead looked at Guo Zihang with a touch of emotion, patting him on the shoulder.
"Old Guo, your legs are still there. It's hard to see you standing up."
"???????"
After packing up and leaving the school, Jiang Qin rode his bike south. Honestly, a young body is truly wonderful. There's no fatigue or soreness. Anyone who's used it knows.
Before his rebirth, he'd probably be out of breath after just a few steps, let alone riding a bike.
It's different now. With this kind of physique, if he were working as a screwdriver in a factory, he could probably build a house.
He pedaled faster and faster, gazing at the Olympic slogans along the road, indulging in the feeling of this incredibly youthful body.
Oh, and his hair was even flying in the wind. This feeling hadn't been felt in a long time!
Half an hour later, he arrived at the Fanhuali community in the north of the city.
The buildings here were blackened, and the paint on the walls was peeling like ringworm. The entire community lacked a proper gate, only a horizontal bar restricting vehicle access. Looking in from the gate, the first thing he saw wasn't a unit door, but a sloppy, illegally built utility room. If memory serves, this was one of the first residential complexes in the old city to be demolished. The official demolition notice was issued in July of this year. To demonstrate their commitment to the demolition and reconstruction project, the government disbursed all compensation in October.
His third uncle, Lianqiao, lived here. His demeanor changed once he got the money. He started smoking Zhonghua cigarettes and clamoring for a Mercedes-Benz.
But before he could get the Mercedes, his two sons started fighting. The second son wanted half for his new wife, and the eldest son wanted half for someone else's.
At that point, both of them were at loggerheads. The second son asked the eldest son, "You're asking for half for a used one, aren't you being unreasonable?"
The eldest son was furious. "I'm marrying the older one and giving the younger one away. Isn't that better than you?"
I want to buy it.
Jiang Qin couldn't help but drool as he looked at this old neighborhood.
But there was a serious problem: he had absolutely no money.
How much money could a recent college entrance exam graduate have? I had enough coins to buy ice cream, but forget about buying a house.
Jiang Qin felt a little regretful, as if countless small amounts of money were rolling past him, only to vanish without a trace.
He truly didn't have the ability to raise initial capital quickly, so there was little he could do.
Buying a house or land was unrealistic, and he didn't have the capital to invest in stocks.
This was the downside of not having a system: even if you have a lot of great ideas, it's hard to take the first step without money.
Did I have a second life?
Just then, Jiang Qin suddenly saw a bus pull up to the curb. Chu Siqi got out, her floral dress swaying in the wind.
She saw Jiang Qin the moment she stepped off. She was surprised, then snorted and looked up, as if waiting for something.
But to her surprise, Jiang Qin simply nodded politely, cast a reluctant glance toward the neighborhood across the street, and then rode away on his bike. The breeze lifted a corner of the skirt, leaving only endless astonishment and helplessness under the bus stop sign.
