Chapter 2 The Bastards
Wang Ru and I were college classmates.
Back then, my family was well-off, and I had many admirers.
While Wang Ru also had some interest in that area, due to family circumstances, she, despite her beauty, felt somewhat insecure and unremarkable. She simply watched me from afar.
Later, I stumbled upon Wang Ru working in the cafeteria. Her diligence and down-to-earth nature immediately struck a chord with me.
I knew she was my ideal wife and mother.
And so, we were together.
We graduated, got jobs, got married, and, with our families supporting us, we lived a happy and sweet life, the envy of others.
After my daughter was born, I felt the financial pressure mount, and I didn't want to rely on my parents for support all the time. So, I resolutely resigned and embarked on my entrepreneurial journey.
My business plan was carefully selected, and I thought I could succeed. However, fate was unfair to me, and along the way, unexpected events occurred one after another.
After three or four years of persistence, I still failed.
After several years out of the workforce, and with the fierce competition in my previous industry, it was difficult for me to find a satisfactory job. With no other choice, I sacrificed my pride and entered the moving business, earning a living while I waited for the right opportunity.
It seemed that from that moment on, Wang Ru changed. Thinking back, many things had been hinting at me long ago. Initially, she disdained my incompetence, but later, she began to dislike me as a person, expressing all sorts of dissatisfaction with me.
At the time, I was already exhausted after a busy day, and since I trusted Wang Ru so deeply, I didn't think much of it. Looking back now, I feel so foolish.
That night, I tried to sleep with Wang Ru, but, as expected, she rejected me again.
Before, I might have reflected on whether I hadn't met Wang Ru's expectations.
But today, I stood there coldly, looking at Wang Ru with anger in my eyes. Seeing I wouldn't leave, Wang Ru was startled and angrily shouted, "What are you doing? Go to bed now. Earn money tomorrow. Our daughter is going to Yuying Primary School. If you don't work hard, you won't even be able to afford the tuition."
"Don't worry about that. I know what to do. Okay, let's go to bed." Trying to suppress my anger, I tentatively made my way to bed.
Wang Ru's resistance was exceptionally fierce.
During her violent struggle, her clothes parted, revealing a fleeting glimpse of what looked like a kiss mark on her delicate skin just below her collarbone.
Wang Ru, realizing something, quickly pulled her pajamas back together, glaring at me fiercely.
My mind froze, and I was about to take further action when a soft, clear child's voice rang out from the doorway.
It was my daughter.
"Mom and Dad, Yueyue is so scared. Please stop fighting."
My daughter's appearance washed away my anger like a tide. I took a deep breath and tried to control my emotions.
Turning around, a smile spread across her face as she spoke gently to my daughter. Wang Ru quickly got out of bed, hugged her daughter, and said to me coldly, "Go to bed. I'll sleep with her tonight."
I returned to my study and lay there, feeling a mixture of emotions. A lot of strange things had happened to Wang Ru recently. If it was just one incident, it could be a coincidence, but with so many happening at once, it was hard to say.
I couldn't play dumb anymore and ignore it all. No matter what, I had to investigate and get a conclusion, even if it was the one I hated the most.
I pretended to continue helping people move, but in reality, I was stalking Wang Ru.
Wang Ru had few ambitions. Her salary was low, and she was relatively relaxed. She often slacked off, even going shopping during work hours.
I followed Wang Ru for two days, and I couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness. I was working myself to death, while she was lavishly spending on food and shopping. Our circumstances were different now, so why didn't you know how to save a little?
But what reassured me was that Wang Ru had been relatively normal these past two days. I couldn't help but doubt myself. Was I really overthinking it? After Wang Ru left that day, I continued to follow her.
I'd thought it would be another uneventful day, but Wang Ru suddenly received a phone call, and a look of joy crossed her face. She stood by the roadside, anxiously waiting, the look of a woman in love, eager to go out.
How long had it been since I'd seen this captivating side of Wang Ru? A long, long time... Thinking about it, a bitter feeling welled up inside me.
I couldn't believe what I was seeing, and even more afraid to face it, but I could only hold on.
Finally, the person Wang Ru was waiting for arrived.
It was a luxury car, worth over a million dollars.
Wang Ru didn't rush to get in, but instead went to the driver's seat and kissed the man in the street for over ten seconds.
Seeing this scene, my mind was struck by lightning, and I almost lost the ability to think.
Damn it! This woman actually betrayed me! How dare she?! I was furious and wanted to rush over, but Wang Ru had already gotten in, and the Rolls-Royce sped away. I quickly hailed a taxi and followed.
Unexpectedly, our destination was the Ulsan villa complex.
The residents here are either wealthy or high-class, with villas starting at 20 million. Living here not only offers the beauty of lush greenery, birdsong, and fragrant flowers, but also exceptional privacy. Several security guards manned the entrance, and inside, there were various surveillance cameras and constant patrols.
I once dreamed of starting a successful business and moving here with my family. Wang Ru longed for this dream in my imagination.
My entrepreneurial dream was shattered, a sudden awakening!
I was stopped outside the villa complex by security, while Wang Ru entered in a luxury car.
Anyone with a reasonable imagination could guess what was going to happen next.
My fists clenched tightly, my heart swelled with rage, and I wanted to charge in and tear those adulterers into pieces.
But I couldn't. I wasn't even allowed in.
The taxi driver seemed to realize something. He gave me a look of pity and, without waiting for a word, took me away. I felt like a walking corpse. The driver dropped me off downtown. I numbly gave him the money, and he even took a little less.
"Brother, if you want to live a decent life, you've got to have some money on your head. Think more positively."
Be more positively? How could I possibly be positively positive?
I was completely obedient to Wang Ru, paying for her food, clothing, and daily expenses, willing to compromise myself to give her the best.
I dedicated myself to helping Wang Ru's family, allowing them to build a house, and even then, brazenly demanded all sorts of things from my parents.
Even after my business venture failed, I worked hard, striving to meet Wang Ru's every need. I couldn't treat this woman unfairly.
But I've been reduced to dust, and she still betrayed me. How can I possibly understand this?!
Why? Why the hell? A surge of anger surged in my chest, my face dark and furious. I wanted this bitch to pay! And that man, I wouldn't let him off the hook either!
