Chapter 5: Trouble in the Second House
After leaving the house, Gu Yunyao let out a long sigh, feeling a sense of relief.
The original novel doesn't describe this drowning incident in detail, but it does describe it as one of the two most severe ordeals the protagonist, Gu Yanzhi, endured in his youth. If the original novel had unfolded as it did, Gu Yanzhi, trapped in such a desolate and desolate environment, would have received no medical treatment. Even if he didn't die, he would have been half-dead, suffering from chronic illness.
The subsequent developments in the novel also confirm this point. At the beginning of the novel, Gu Yanzhi has transformed back into Mu Yanzhi, brought back to the palace by Emperor Anqing and named Crown Prince. However, whenever it rains or snows, he suffers from dull pain in his joints. Mu Yanzhi vaguely mentions this as a result of the hardships he endured in his early years.
Presumably, this is why Mu Yanzhi harbors such deep hatred for the Gu family. Even after so many years, after ascending the throne, he still can't forget the good deeds the Gu family has done, and he insists on annihilating them completely to vent his anger. Thinking of this, Gu Yunyao shuddered. Fortunately, she arrived just in time, otherwise the consequences would have been disastrous.
Tingyu, standing by, thought she had caught a cold and frantically advised, "Third Miss, you left in such a hurry. You should hurry back."
